Dracaena trifasciata ‘Moonshine’ is defined by pale silvery-green foliage with a fine darker green edge and subtle horizontal markings. The reduced contrast compared with classic snake plants gives it a softer, more minimal appearance while retaining the rigid upright structure of the species.

Growth is rhizomatous and clumping, with new fans emerging from the root system over time. Brighter light generally supports stronger silver coloration and tighter growth. Its strong form, drought tolerance, and visible rhizome development make it especially effective as an architectural plant in controlled glass systems.

Care Guide
Dracaena trifasciata 'Moonshine'

LIGHT

Keep this cultivar toward the brighter end of the Dracaena range to support its silvery appearance and compact growth. Very low light can produce greener, less distinctive new foliage.

WATER / ROOT ZONE

The thick leaves and rhizome retain substantial water, so use a pronounced dry cycle. Reduce watering further when light is lower or growth slows.

SYSTEM

Prioritize fast drainage and root oxygen; do not keep the reservoir continuously active in a wick-based setup.

Genus Guide

Dracaena plants thrive in moderate humidity and slightly moist soil. However, it’s important to let the soil dry out completely before watering to avoid overwatering. This plant can go several weeks without water.

In terms of lighting, Dracaena plants prefer bright, indirect light but can also tolerate low lighting conditions.

When it comes to potting, repot the plant in pots that are no larger than 1 inch in diameter from the root system.

For the soil, use a chunky soil mix specifically designed for orchids or epiphytes, such as any branded potting soil mix for these types of plants.
